I find joy with my loved ones as my health gets better : Thaksin

Thaksin Shinawatra, who was found guilty and released from prison early, stated in his initial interview today after coming back to Thailand that ‘Being happy means being at home’.”

While visiting a graveyard in Mae Tha sub-district in Chiang Mai to pay respects to his late parents, he spoke about this.

During the visit, Thaksin was accompanied by his children, grandchildren, younger sisters, and close relatives, including Yaowapa Wongsawat, Monthathip Kowitcharoenkul, and Yaowaret Shinawatra.

The former prime minister mentioned that he hadn't had the opportunity to visit the cemetery for many years because he was abroad, but he plans to come every year from now on.

When asked if he is happy being with his family, Thaksin responded with a smile that he has discovered joy with his loved ones, unlike the previous six months at the Police General Hospital when he felt downcast.

He mentioned that his health has been getting better, but he sometimes feels back pain if he moves too much, and he needs to wear neck support occasionally, but not all the time.

Thaksin, who was found guilty of corruption, expressed his happiness that the people in Chiang Mai still remember “an old man like me”, as many welcomed him during his visit to the Warorot market.

When asked if he will meet Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, who is expected to arrive in Chiang Mai this evening, Thaksin said that former prime minister Somchai Wongsawat was hosting a dinner and Srettha is one of the guests.

As a former prime minister, Thaksin mentioned that he has a responsibility to provide moral support to Srettha and to offer advice when requested.

Talking about his youngest daughter, Paetongtarn, who is the leader of the Pheu Thai party, Thaksin mentioned that he has always been lenient with his children and has never imposed his will on them.
