The Traitors star Wilfred Webster is seeking assistance from fans after receiving distressing news about his family.
The 30-year-old became famous on the initial season of Claudia Winkleman’s murder mystery gameshow, reaching the final and proving to be the Ultimate Traitor, before Faithfuls Meryl Williams, Aaron Evans and Hannah Byczkowski won the £101,050 prize.
Even though he didn't win and was known for betraying his fellow Traitors Amanda Lovett and Alyssa Chan and Kieran Tompsett, Wilf has gained a dedicated social media following, whom he is now appealing to for help after his cousin was sadly diagnosed with cancer.
Sharing a GoFundMe page with his 100,000 followers on Instagram, Wilf wrote: ‘Hey everyone I hope you are well. Sadly my cousin Liam has been diagnosed with Cancer and the family are trying to raise money for various reasons.
‘It’s a hard time for everyone and I’m only asking for help if it’s possible.’
Wilf went on to share a longer message written by Liam’s brother, explaining that he had been diagnosed with ‘a rare aggressive, fast growing’ form of blood cancer.
‘His Lymph Nodes around the Neck and other places, Kidneys, Liver, Spleen and Bone Marrow are all currently affected and he is at Stage 4 of the disease,’ the post read.
Liam, who also has global learning disabilities and autism, is now starting treatment but, the post went on, his routine is ‘crucial’ and he can ‘struggle to mix or respond to people who are unknown to him.’
As he undergoes 18 weeks of treatment, his family are looking to raise money to be close to him, as the hospital can’t guarantee accommodation over that period.
The post went on: ‘We have looked at nearby accommodation (hotels £60-90 per night, hostels, rooms for rent) nothing is really affordable or requires us to eat out as they don’t have cooking facilities or are far from the hospital.
‘Myself, Mum and close family members have been caring for Liam since birth, he has never been away from us and we know how to communicate with him which needs to continue for the length of his treatment to aide his best recovery.
‘We ask if you could donate anything to help us to be able to be with Liam or fund the things that Liam and his family may need along the way while he’s being treated and recovering without having to worry about finances.
‘We truly thank you all for reading this and anything you can donate to help Liam and his family at this time.’
Wilf’s post was showered with support from fans and friends alike, including season two The Traitors actor Ash Bibi, who wrote: ‘So sorry to hear this darling. Thinking of you and your family darling.’
Recently, Wilf revealed on his Instagram that he wed his partner Yiota, with whom he has two daughters, and went overseas for the first time.
The experienced charity raiser also presents a podcast with his colleagues from the cast Ivan Brett and Rayan Rachedi.
