The United Stand presenter Mark Goldbridge has been receiving death threats after his interview with Manchester United star Rasmus Hojlund.
Hojlund talked to the fan channel last month, and this resulted in appalling backlash towards Goldbridge – real name Brent Di Cesare – and Greater Manchester Police are now looking into the death threats made against him.
Goldbridge has been warned that he is a ‘dead man walking’ and some have threatened to harm him if he shows up at Old Trafford to support the team, while other members of staff on The United Stand have also been attacked.
Some of Hojlund’s teammates were reportedly unhappy about his decision to do the interview since Goldbridge has openly criticized several players and is known for his aggressive style.
But it is believed that the issue has led to casual joking in the dressing room rather than any serious tension in the squad.
The United Stand is the club’s most popular fan channel with a YouTube audience of 1.83m and their account on X, formerly known as Twitter, has 2.3m followers.
‘Officers have spoken with the victim and relevant information has been passed over to the police,’ said a statement from Greater Manchester Police. ‘Enquiries are ongoing at this stage.’
Goldbridge, meanwhile, has stated that: ‘I fully understand that football is a passionate and divisive sport, and that people are free to decide and have an opinion on what content they consume. Daily Mail‘However, the attack some of our staff faced over the weekend was incredibly sad to witness.
‘To be threatening people’s lives again demonstrates the cruel group mentality that exists on social media.’
Greater Manchester Police are investigating.
