    ROUNDUP

    BOYS BASKETBALL

    Charlestown showed their strong offense on Saturday afternoon.

    In a Div. 3 state quarterfinal at Madison Park, the top-seeded Townies (21-3) easily won 87-72 against No. 8 Newburyport. Jaylen Hunter-Coleman scored 25 points, grabbed nine rebounds, dished out four assists and added four steals. He was supported by Damante Vanheyningen (25 points), Jaylin Williams-Crawford (22 points and 12 rebounds) and Trevari Andrews (10 points, seven rebounds).

    Anthony Piron scored 14 points as No. 7 Sharon (16-7) beat 15th-seeded Scituate 58-54 in a Div. 2 state quarterfinal.

    GIRLS BASKETBALL

    In a Div. 1 state quarterfinal contest, No. 3 Springfield Central (20-3) advanced with a 59-40 victory over sixth-seeded Central Catholic. Anajalese Quinones scored 17 points, and Lilly Phillips was the only Raider to finish in double-figures, scoring 10 points.

    Selected for the North Shore Ski League All-Star team: Amanda Schneider, Megan Riley, Phoebe Whitcomb and Hannah Mitchell (Masconomet), Evie Bernard and Stewart Bernard (Hamilton-Wenham), Grace Chandler and Evie Tagie (Newburyport), Brooke Downey (Andover) and Hailey Gagnon (Haverhill).
