At least five individuals have died and several others wounded in Gaza following a malfunction of an aid airdrop on Friday, as reported by multiple sources.

The defective airdrops struck individuals and landed on houses on Friday. The Associated Press mentioned this., as per Palestinian officials.

Countries, including the United States, have committed to enhancing aid delivery to Gaza due to the reports.

Last week, President Biden declared that the U.S. would conduct a humanitarian aid airdrop in the coming days amidst negotiations for a temporary truce in the Israel-Hamas conflict. announced the U.S. would airdrop humanitarian aid in the following days amid negotiations for a temporary cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war. The first U.S. drop took place Saturday, providing 38,000 meals.

This flow of aid into war-torn Gaza is deemed inadequate by Biden, who stated that additional food, medicine, water, and other supplies will soon be sent to the civilians.

Despite efforts by the U.S. and its allies to provide aid, many believe it is insufficient to meet the needs of Palestinians. The Gaza Health Ministry, under Hamas, reported that over 30,000 Palestinians have been killed since the start of the Oct. 7 war.

In his State of the Union address on Thursday, Biden said the U.S. military will build a temporary port to boost the aid deliveries.

Efforts to provide aid have intensified since over 100 civilians were killed while attempting to access humanitarian aid, following an incident where Israeli soldiers opened fire.

As per CNN, a reporter observed aid packages falling from planes over the Al Shati camp on Friday, but the responsible nation for the airdrop could not be confirmed due to the participation of multiple countries with the U.S. in aid delivery.

Muhammed Al-Sheikh, head of the emergency care department at the Al Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City, confirmed that five individuals perished and several others were seriously injured due to the airdrop malfunction.

Five individuals perished when the parachute on the aid package failed to deploy properly, as confirmed by the Gaza Health Ministry and an eyewitness. Among the deceased were two boys, CBS News reported.
