The Prime Minister of Thailand, Srettha Thavisin, has suggested arranging a friendly match with retired players from Liverpool and Manchester United, two well-liked Premier League soccer teams.
He brought up the idea while meeting with former players from his favorite team, Liverpool, at Government House on Friday. According to Srettha, they were interested in the proposal.
The visitors included Michael Owen, Steve McManaman, and Robbie Fowler.
“As a longtime fan of the Liverpool team, I was thrilled and happy to meet their iconic players,” he shared on his X account.
He enjoyed discussing football with them and suggested Thailand as the location for a friendly match between Liverpool and Manchester United.
Srettha received a personalized Liverpool team jersey with “S. Thavisin” and the number 30, representing his position as the 30th prime minister of Thailand, printed on the back.
Srettha informed reporters after the meeting that the Liverpool team accepted the invitation, showing their interest in coming and possibly extending their stay in Thailand after the match.
The conversation also covered potential collaboration with Liverpool for the advancement of Thai soccer, both at the youth and professional levels.
