A man from California has been formally charged by an Atlanta grand jury for making threats against Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D), according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia. according as stated in a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia on Friday.
Marc Shultz, 66, from Chula Vista, California, allegedly made the threats because of Willis' prosecution of former President Trump.
In October last year, Shultz supposedly left threatening comments on two separate YouTube live stream videos, which included statements about violence and murder directed at District Attorney Willis. The press release referred to Shultz's indictment and other court evidence.
“Threats against any individual, credible or not, are a very serious crime that the FBI will not tolerate,” Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta Keri Farley stated in the release. “Threats of violence against government officials, specifically, threaten the very fabric of our democracy. We want everyone to know that if you engage in such behavior, you will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
In a statement, Willis expressed gratitude to “U.S. Attorney Ryan Buchanan, his staff, and the FBI for recognizing the value of the life of an African American elected official and for their dedicated efforts to ensure the safety of myself, my staff, and our families” as reported by Fox5 Atlanta.
