Earlier today, a fire started at a facility in the Bankai area of Rayong province that houses chemicals and industrial waste. This led to the release of unpleasant smells and dense smoke. Explosions were occasionally heard.
Residents near the plant were moved away to prevent potential harm from the poisonous fumes.
As of now, firefighters have managed to control the fire, but it has not been completely put out. Foam suppressants had to be used due to the storage of chemicals in the plant.
Locals in the area have already lodged complaints with authorities due to the rupture of the factory’s wastewater tanks, resulting in the release of untreated water into the surrounding environment and residential areas.
The Rayong Industry Office has instructed the factory’s owners to fix the water treatment system. Officials are preparing to visit the facility to confirm compliance with the directive.
