Two Massachusetts state agencies are having technical issues that are affecting their operations on Wednesday.
At 8 a.m., the Registry of Motor Vehicles said that there is a statewide problem that is stopping them from handling transactions online, in service centers and over the phone. Officials told customers that they could use their bank account option as a different way to pay.
The state Department of Transitional Assistance then reported shortly after 10:30 a.m. that they are having some technical challenges that are affecting access to DTA Connect, a platform that allows users to see and manage case information.
The DTA looks after the state’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and other efforts focused on economic support, ways to work and health incentives.
A representative for the RMV did not immediately give information on when business will be back up and running fully. The agency had a nationwide problem that lasted for several hours on March 21.
While operations stayed down around noon, the RMV sent out a statement urging the public to be cautious of "deceptive and mimic websites" and to use only Mass.GOV/RMV for information or to carry out transactions, including when trying to renew a license or registration.
The agency said, "While there has been no significant increase in reports of deceptive and mimic websites to the RMV, this is a busy time of year for customer transactions so the RMV is issuing this reminder to the public about sites which have been created to mislead customers into thinking they have reached the official RMV website."
